The Company
Vintage Aviation L.L.C. was created from a profound commitment
to preserve and operate antique airplanes of historical
value. The company was established to provide the public a unique flying experience in antique and rare
warbird aircraft.
Vintage Aviation L.L.C. provides safe and reliable antique aviation
services with an emphasis on history. Vintage Aviation
L.L.C. safeguards, in flying condition, a collection of antique
civilian and former military combat aircraft.
Vintage Aviation L.L.C. promotes the preservation of historically
important aircraft and artifacts relevant to American aviation heritage. The company is committed to preserving,
supporting and operating these rare antique aircraft. Integral to preservation, is the display of aircraft and artifacts
in a tribute to the memory and patriotic spirit of thousands of American men and women who built, serviced, and flew these renowned airplanes.
The ability to see, touch, participate and even manipulate machinery
and equipment from the past is overwhelming. Very
few venues offer the height of excitement and fulfillment
as a ride in an antique airplane. Computer airplane games and visits to museums filled with silent, static airplane displays
can not substitute for wind in the face, the smell of leather or the unmistakable sound of history.
The company operates antique single engine aircraft. Vintage Aviation
L.L.C. began with the acquisition of a 1944 North
American SNJ-5B. In 1998, the aircraft was placed
on loan to the Olympic Flight Museum for fund raising activities
for two and a half years. In 1999, a 1946 Aeronca
Chief 11 AC was procured and put into service providing
introductory flights to youngsters in the EAA Young Eagles and
Aviation Explorer Scouts programs. After the SNJ was
released from the museum commitment in 2001, a plan
was conceived to combine assets and form a commercial operation.
The aircraft are now the primary holdings of Vintage Aviation L.L.C.
The majority of business is familiarization airplane flights.
Charitable activities continue with both aircraft.
Another important component of the operation is the
extensive catalogue of FAA approved flight instruction. In addition,
specialty
instruction such as aerobatics and formation is offered.
Company aircraft serve as the focal point for corporate incentive
programs
to enhance performance/teamwork or as sales awards. The
company participates in ceremonial/veteran and "Missing Man" performances.
Additionally, Vintage Aviation L.L.C. aircraft are available
for film and
television projects.
Vintage Aviation L.L.C. does not just offer an airplane ride,
but education and historical appreciation.
